It’s a tricky area, fraught with stylistic pitfalls, so The Rake discusses how the raffish gent can best carry off Eastern iconography on his clobber.

Says writer Nick Scott: “For spring/summer 2016, bomber jackets and MA-1 flight jackets, pyjamas, silk shirts and even suits bearing dragons, tigers, tropical flora, snakes and the like have been hitting the catwalks thanks to Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Gucci, Dries van Noten and Louis Vuitton among others, while a stroll around the menswear floor of Harrods reveals gems such as Alexander McQueen’s floral tree skull shirt and Thom Browne’s Japanese garden kimono fabric jacket.”

Model-turned-photographer Ellen is adored around the world for her fashion, editorial and advertising work. The promo, Crystals And The Postman Are A Girl’s Best Friend, premiered on Dazed, which said: “Unwerth applies her revered take on the erotic to this short film. The age-old hot twins fantasy is bedecked in crystals and kitsch, licking lips seductively and inviting us to play.”

Styled by Anna Trevelyan and starring twin models Ruth and May Bell – alongside Kip the poodle – the sparkling short is clever and fun in equal measure. Planet Sputnik provided the vintage location and acted as props co-ordinator during the shoot.

Producer Alyn Horton from AlynUK told www.ashadedviewonfashion.com: “The film is quintessentially Von Unwerth in style – cheeky, sexy and gorgeous – and depicts Ruth and May preparing for a party in their pastel-hued 1950s bungalow. Throw in a postman and a poodle, and the film quickly descends into the cutest type of chaos.”

Horton continued: “The ‘Siblings’ – aka Joe Bates, Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery – said of the collaboration: ‘It’s a marriage made in heaven. Ellen’s work encapsulates saucy femininity, fun, humour and a true love of women being women, which are values we hope to express through our garments and shows.’”

Swarovski are working with Sister by Sibling as part of their Designer Collective initiative, which supports international emerging talent.

We were involved with the Continental GT from the start. Not only did we advise the company during the earliest stages of the motorcycle’s concept and design several years before it became reality, but we were also consulted to ensure that the launch struck the right balance of classic Brit heritage and modern-day cool.

Finally, Planet Sputnik‘s guy David Parr (above centre) was specially selected by Royal Enfield to appear alongside several other riders in promotional footage and stills for the stunning new 500cc machine. Most exciting was this edgy new short movie Ace Cafe to Madras Café, which involved a demanding filming schedule in London, Turkey and India:

The original Continental GT, which was launched back in 1965, was a favourite of young British Rockers looking for an off-the-shelf cafe racer. Its nippy engine and sharp handling provided a fun ride (with a top speed of around 74mph, it was claimed to be the fastest 250cc in the UK), while its stylish looks really stood out on the road – and that’s exactly what Royal Enfield hopes to recreate with its latest model.

A special range of apparel and accessories has also been released to accompany the new Continental GT cafe racer, including jackets, helmets, T-shirts, denim and shoes.
